SmartDNS is a NordVPN feature that allows you to set up unrestricted access to streaming content on your smart TV.
In order to use SmartDNS for VPN, you have to whitelist your IP address without a VPN connection - it should be your original ISP IP address. Make sure to whitelist IPv4 IP address, not IPv6 as we do not support IPv6 yet.
You can activate the SmartDNS feature at the Nord Account dashboard.
Keep in mind that SmartDNS does not protect your devices as a VPN connection, it just provides access to streaming content. Keep in mind that it may not work with all streaming services. Here is a list of SmartDNS supported streaming services:
- ABC Go (US region)
- Amazon Prime (US region)
- Disney Plus (US region)
- Fox Now / Sports Go / News / Showtime (US region)
- HBO Now (US region)
- Netflix Originals
Here are some articles to help you set up our SmartDNS feature on your device:
On other devices, you may try to use the following DNS servers:
Primary: 103.86.96.103
Secondary (if available): 103.86.99.103
If you are still having trouble, please contact our support team via Chat or Email.
The NordVPN service should never be used to bypass copyright regulations. NordVPN does not promote, condone, or endorse the use of the service for such purposes. For more details, please read the NordVPN Terms of Service.
Tip: Your VPN connection safety depends on your account password too. Don't forget to use a strong password on your account, as it will help you to avoid credential stuffing attacks and will keep your connections safe and uninterrupted.
As generating and remembering strong and secure passwords is not an easy task, we recommend downloading our free password manager — NordPass. It generates secure passwords for you and stores them safely, letting you avoid time-wasting password resets in the future.
